A little bit about me

‘Do I count myself as being successful? Yes, yes I do. To have a roof over my head, a loving family, several skills, career, job and potential to change someones life through my actions. That is what I might call the start of someone being successful!’ Scott Welcomme

My amazing family treating ourselves to a little family time over the festive period at Oxford Street, London, England. Exactly what Welcomme Wonderland is about!I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family- a proud husband to my gorgeous wife, Tanya, and doting father to our two beautiful girls Sofia and Anastasia.

Hi, I’m Scott. When people ask who I am and what I do; what my accomplishments in life have been so far- I am privileged to have been blessed with quite a few answers!

I often think to myself, if today was my last day on Planet Earth would I be proud of my life and the legacy left behind? I am proud to say that although I have had my fair share of a mix of ups and downs in my life so far- who hasn’t?!  I can safely say that at my current point in my life, yes, I would be proud of what I have accomplished and what I would leave behind.

I often reflect on a famous quote from Haim G. Ginott

“ I’ve come to a frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It’s my personal approach that creates the climate. It’s my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.”

As a teacher I have enormous responsibility! Over the years though, I have come to realise that this quote is relevant in all walks of life. It doesn’t matter whether I am a Senior Leader in education, a teacher or I work in a supermarket. If I am working as a projectionist at a cinema, a barman at an Internationally renowned rugby ground serving superstars, and barman at different bars and clubs.

What if I were a waiter, or in a job babysitting, or a job assisting with security for worldwide famous celebrities. What about attending training courses, mixing in a room of global internet entrepreneurs and absorbing knowledge and ideas, not to mention hanging out with mates.

I have shared rooms and had conversations with people from all walks of life- from everyday, unsung hero through to top celebrities. The responsibility to be as good as I can be, and inspire others to do the same, is duplicate. Manners cost nothing, neither does a courteous nature, a positive attitude, determination and the passion to see others succeed- that is what keeps me going everyday. Well that, and the drive of my amazing family.
